Okay. Any other notice of Council Member motions before we move on? Okay. New business. We have one item in new business today and that's the requests for leaves of absence. So if we can please get that pulled up.
Seeing it looks like everyone has reviewed it. Okay. And so this motion has been circulated to council at the beginning of the meeting and is available on screen. As you can see, would someone like to move the motion? Councillor Claston, seconded by Councillor Domenato. Okay, is there any discussion?
No.
All those in favour say aye. All those opposed say nay. Great. The motion carries unanimously. Council, are there any other items of new business?
Okay, we'll move on. Inquiries or other matters? Council, are there any inquiries or other matters? And I will go first. Yeah. I do want to take a moment to recognize the passing last month of former city councillor, Dr. Sethi Pendikar. So born in India, Dr. Pendikar moved to Canada as a young man to study at UBC, becoming a professor in urban planning and development. In 1972, he was elected as the first South Asian councillor in Vancouver's history. And over the course of his term on council, was a champion for access to green space in our city waterfront. advocating for 99 by 99, which is 99 kilometers of waterfront walkway by 1999. Though he returned to his passion teaching after one term on council, he continued to have an impact on our city, acting as the chairman of the building committee for the Akali Singh Sikh Society Gurdwara, where he was instrumental in acquiring the land that the Gurdwara now stands on. Dr. Pendiker was a trailblazing member of our community and made history in our city and for South Asian Canadians across the province. We're grateful for everything that he contributed to Vancouver over the course of his life, and he will be missed. I personally had the opportunity to go to his celebration of life a few weeks ago and meeting with his family and his friends, and I can tell you, He had an amazing impact on so many people that's felt to this day. In fact, I know Councillor Klassen was there as well, and he had actually had a pretty good, deep personal and mentor relationship with Dr. Pendergast. So, like I said, huge impact on the city of Vancouver, and he definitely will be missed. Councillor Frye.
